Corporate executives attend Marketing presentations at MDi Pakistan

Executives from some of Pakistan’s most prestigious companies attended Marketing presentations at MDi Pakistan on June 09, 2009. The theme chosen for this year’s presentation session was titled ‘New Product Development’, where Year 1 BBA students presented various new product/service concepts based on certain consumer needs that yet remain unattended in Pakistan.

Some interesting concepts included a costume manufacturing concern, an automatic shoe cleaning unit, an innovative safety lock and plans for an official race track. Students not only explained the utility of their concepts during the presentation, they had also prepared prototype products, budgets, advertisements, comprehensive statistics and clips from interviews conducted as a part of the research process.

Corporate executives were invited to attend to form an adjudicating board for these presentations. They included:

Mr. Sajid Ilyas – Marketing Manager, Bahria Town (Pvt.) Ltd
Mr. Wajid Mahmood – Marketing Manager, Micronet Broadband Ltd.
Mr. Salman Farooq – CEO, eXpress
Ms. Sadaf Gul – Assistant Manager OD, Telenor Pakistan
Ms. Sonia Farooq – Assistant Vice President HR, Askari Bank
Mr. Tajuddin Hakimuddin – Managing Director, FEP International (Pvt.) Ltd
Mr. Usman Khalid – CEO, Aspire
Mr. Adnan Khan – National Manager SA, Alcatel Lucent Pakistan
Mr. Salman Muhammad Khan – ex-National Sales Manager, Nestlé Pakistan
Mr. Atif Siddique – CEO, Firmtree; President, Future Leaders of Pakistan Islamabad Chapter

It was an excellent opportunity for MDi Students to interact with high-caliber professionals. Their performances were lauded, and members of the adjudicating board were very happy to have attended the session.

“It was a delight to have attended and evaluated the marketing presentations of BBA students at MDi Pakistan” said Mr. Adnan from Alcatel Lucent. “Their presentation skills creativity and effort were indeed commendable”.
“It was a good learning session for me as well as a chance to revise my concepts”, said Mr. Wajid from Micronet Broadband.

MDi attributes the success of this event to the hard work and commitment of its students. The institution remains committed to provide its students every opportunity to improve their skills, so that they may stand out from many other graduates who pass out from universities each year.

MDi students are driven by a philosophy that their challenge is not only to compete with business students in Pakistan, but with students from around the world. The up-to-date USQ curriculum taught at the institution, along with our experienced and qualified faculty, have both helped us develop high caliber graduates who have not only gone on to study at excellent universities, but have also been placed at top multinational companies, and have also successfully set up their own businesses. Furthermore, MDi students have consistently received recognition on both USQ Australia and Informatics Singapore programs. Students have consistently picked up USQ Dean’s Awards every semester, with the average passing percentage per examination term being 95%.
